The Addo National Park
The Addo Elephant National Park was established in 1931 to protect
the last 11 wild elephants from extinction. Today more than 350
elephants roam through an area that is so diverse that no matter
how many times you experience it, its magic will never fail to
captivate you. On a good day, The Addo Elephant National Park
offers the closest and most spectacular elephant viewing on earth.
The park also offers viewing of Black Rhino, Cape Buffalo and many
different species of antelope as well as a host of other large and
small mammals and over 400 species of birds in the greater park area.
Visitors are able to self-drive in the park or book one of the day
or night guided tours that are available. There is also horse riding
in the Park for the experienced rider and around the park fence for
the inexperienced rider.
Bushman Sands Game Reserve
Bushman Sands Game Reserve lies alongside the town of Alicedale.
At the start of your day, experience the vibrant Xhosa culture
and be mesmerised by the rhythm of the drum, song, dance and
storytelling at the African cultural show. Enjoy a light lunch
before venturing out into the bush under the beauty of the African
sky for you malaria free, Big 5 game viewing experience. The
program starts at 11h00 and finishes at approximately 16h00.
Schotia Safaris
Schotia is a privately owned and managed reserve, which has been
owned by the Bean Family since 1833. Schotia is the oldest game
viewing reserve in the Cape Province of South Africa and is also
the first reserve to have lions that hunt for themselves. The
game drive begins at 4pm with a four hour guided
drive in an open Landrover followed by sundowners and a typically
African meal in their Lapa. The programme ends at approximately 22h00.
Amakhala Game Reserve
Day Safaris commence with a guided tour of the Nile Crocodile
Centre at Reed Valley followed by a 2hour game drive as well as
enjoying a cheese and wine Sundowner Cruise on the Bushmans River.
The whole experience in concluded with dinner around the fire in
the bush camp and a half an hour night drive back to Reed Valley.
Ideally situated at the end of the Garden Route, this 5000ha reserve
offers malaria free game viewing and breathtaking scenery to capture
your imagination.
